Overview

The Careers and Employability team at the University of Chester is a dynamic, student-focused department committed to empowering every student to thrive in their career journey. We work collaboratively across the University and with external partners to deliver innovative programmes that support transition into university, career readiness, enterprise, skill development, volunteering, and graduate success.

Responsibilities
  • Support the effective delivery and ongoing development of the university’s central Peer Mentoring Scheme and Career Mentoring programmes.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day running of mentoring schemes, including mentor‑mentee matching through the designated platform, preparation and sending of communications, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Recruit, onboard and engage mentors and mentees; design and deliver training, events and promotional activities via CareerHub, social media, web content, digital newsletters and presentations.
  • Monitor engagement, gather feedback and assist with evaluation and reporting to improve the schemes and demonstrate impact.
  • Engage with students from across the university, particularly under‑represented groups, in line with the Access and Participation Plan.
Qualifications
  • Relevant administrative experience, preferably in higher education or student‑services environment.
  • Experience supporting events, training sessions or workshops.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT skills, strong organisation and time‑management, attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload independently and within a team.
  • Professional, inclusive and empathetic approach with a strong understanding of the diverse needs of the student body.
