Medical Support Secretary

Closing date: 16 December 2025

The post-holder is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Vascular Surgery service. The post-holder will be required to follow policies and procedures and communicate effectively as appropriate.

Main duties of the job
  • Use the Trust's new Electronic Patient Record System Hive, uploading patient registrations and referrals, dealing with telephone queries, letters, emails and Hive chat, typing clinic letters, and providing ad hoc support to Medical Secretaries on a daily basis.
  • Liaise with Consultants, clinical teams and other hospitals where required.
  • Demonstrate office procedures to inexperienced staff.
  • Commit to on-the-job learning, expanding medical terminology knowledge, relevant policies, and procedures.
  • Manage/booking Hot-clinic appointments.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries promptly and communicate accordingly.
  • Deal with all patients and their relatives/carers in a caring and professional manner, providing admission/appointment information where appropriate.
  • Undertake routine clerical duties and any other tasks relevant to the role as requested.
