Medical Lab Assistant Eurofins UK Clinical Diagnostics • Guildford, England, United Kingdom

Job Description

Core working hours are between 8am - 10pm totalling 37.5hrs per week.

Working days are Monday - Friday. Occasional Saturdays may also be required.

As a Medical Lab Assistant you will prepare samples for analysis using the current laboratory protocol, to assist Associate Practitioners in maintenance and preparation of equipment.

Main Duties
  • Specimen collection, registration and preparation
  • Receive, sort and identify specimens received.
  • Register patient details and tests required on the laboratory computer system.
  • Prepare samples where appropriate for analysis.
  • Enter request on the laboratory LIMS and prepare samples for analysis under supervision of the BMS(s).
  • Operate equipment such as loading centrifuges and automated equipment and use of pipettes and computer terminals in accordance with the laboratory SOPs.
  • Maintain laboratory and ensure workbenches are clean and tidy.
  • Safely handle and dispose of blood, urine or other biological material or hazardous chemicals.
  • Prepare referral samples for external laboratory analysis.
