Job summary

A healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a Medical Engineering Technician for their Medical Electronics Department. The role involves managing the maintenance and repair of medical equipment. Applicants should have an HNC in electrical/electronic engineering and experience in maintenance, ideally in healthcare. Strong communication and organization skills are essential. Qualifications

A Vacancy at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking for a Medical Engineering Technician to join the Medical Electronics Department. This brand‑new service will involve managing the maintenance and repair of all medical equipment across WWL services. The successful applicant will work largely independently, proactively introducing best‑practice solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acceptance testing of new equipment, minor repairs and planned preventive maintenance.
  • Clean and decontaminate medical equipment in line with decontamination procedures.
  • Assist WWL sleep services with acceptance testing and troubleshooting on respiratory equipment.
  • Travel across the Wigan & Leigh area in a works vehicle as part of daily duties.
  • Ensure efficient use of financial resources within the department.
  • Maintain statutory and general records, including equipment history, maintenance, test results, technical updates, mandatory upgrades, and stock control.
  • Use Oracle and liaise with contractors and external companies for ordering/invoicing.
  • Coordinate access arrangements with equipment users and external suppliers.
