Job summary

A leading environmental services provider is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to service and upgrade MEICA systems across various sites in the Northwest. The role requires extensive travel, good knowledge of process control and safe installation practices. This is an ongoing freelance/temporary position with weekly payments through PAYE Umbrella system.

Qualifications

  • Experience in servicing MEICA systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and compliant installation practices is required.

Responsibilities

  • Service and upgrade MEICA systems on Environment Agency sites.
  • Coordinate and plan daily routes for site visits.
  • Perform routine maintenance and fault finding.

Job description
Overview

Mechanical Fitter required for work on various sites around the Northwest. You will service various Environment agency sites across the region providing service for the upgrading of the MEICA systems. The main depot is located in Warrington, so you will be based locally ideally. This role covers the entire Northwest region, so will involve a lot of driving to various sites across the region. A vehicle with a fuel card will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Service and upgrade MEICA systems on Environment Agency sites across the Northwest region.
  • Travel to multiple sites as required; coordinate and plan daily routes and site visits.
  • Perform routine maintenance, fault finding and commissioning of MEICA-related equipment.
  • Ensure compliant installation practices and adherence to safety standards.
Required Skills
  • Process control 4-20mA 0-10V
  • Control panel fault finding, pump starter, thermistors, magnetic, earth leakage. Relays, safety relays, Pilz relays, contactor rating AC DC
  • Level sensors calibration
  • Knowledge of electric actuators (settings, torque, overload etc.)
  • Weir tilt gates
  • Pumps types, vertical drive, submersible etc.
  • Pump, impeller, bearing, thrust bearings, seals, dry and wet types
  • VSDs, starting currents, torque setting, ramps
  • Cable testing (IR, R1+R, Zs etc.)
  • Making off and glanding, SWA’s. PWA
  • Cable type SWA, LSF, PVC, XLPE, H07RNF and application
  • Earthing, functional earth
  • Gland ratings CW, EW etc.
Desirable
  • Hydraulic circuit, systems. Pump, cylinders, valve (solenoids)
  • Signal isolators ICA interface
  • Experience of Rotork actuators
  • PLC programming
  • VSD drive settings
  • Generators G59 deapsea etc.
  • Pump, impeller material selection
Details

This role is an ongoing freelance/temporary role and is deemed inside IR35, so weekly wages are paid via the PAYE Umbrella system.
