Qualifications

The Opportunity

Shadow Robot is a leading robotics company in North London, looking for a commercially experienced Mechatronics Technician for a 6‑month contract. This role is not for graduates as we need plenty of experience due to the nature of the project.

You’ll be the hands‑on support that enables senior engineers to focus on complex design challenges – assembling, testing, debugging, and documenting robotic systems as part of an important international project.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Assembling and building prototype electro‑mechanical robotic systems
  • Setting up and running tests on components and systems
  • Debugging electronics and capturing data accurately
  • Maintaining workshop equipment and development space
  • Writing clear documentation for tests and processes
  • Supporting senior engineers so they can focus on design and innovation
What You’ll Bring
  • Commercial experience as a Mechatronics Technician or Engineer
  • Experience in testing and debugging electronics
  • Competence in soldering, including small wires and electronic components
  • Ability to assemble prototype electro‑mechanical systems
  • Strong documentation skills
  • A structured approach to problem‑solving and data recording
  • Based in London and able to work in the office 5 days a week
Nice to have:

PCB rework/surface mount experience, Linux command line, scripting/automation, MCAD/ECAD tools
