Qualifications

  • Strong track record as a Mechanical Project Engineer on large-scale MEP projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret M&E drawings and technical documentation.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with solid coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing mechanical services installation on-site.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors, consultants, and the wider project team.
  • Managing technical submissions, procurement schedules, and RFIs.
  • Attending and leading design and coordination meetings.
  • Monitoring programme and reporting to project leads.
  • Supporting commissioning and final handover phases.

Mechanical Project Engineer (Freelance)

Location: Central London

Contract: 3–6 Months (Potential to Extend)

Day Rate: Competitive (DOE)

Start Date: Immediate

Project Values: £15M – £60M

I’m currently recruiting for a Freelance Mechanical Project Engineer to join a Tier 1 M&E contractor delivering major projects across Central London.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical engineer who’s confident managing large-scale MEP packages and can hit the ground running in a fast-paced, high-value project environment.

You’ll be working on projects ranging from £15M–£60M, with a strong likelihood of extension beyond the initial 3–6 month term for the right person.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing mechanical services installation on-site
  • Coordinating with subcontractors, consultants, and the wider project team
  • Managing technical submissions, procurement schedules, and RFIs
  • Attending and leading design and coordination meetings
  • Monitoring programme and reporting to project leads
  • Supporting commissioning and final handover phases
What I\'m Looking For
  • Strong track record as an Mechanical Project Engineer on large-scale MEP projects
  • Ability to read and interpret M&E drawings and technical documentation
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with solid coordination skills
  • Recognised electrical engineering qualification (HND/Degree)
  • CSCS or equivalent site certification
