Job summary

A recruitment consultancy is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Fitter in Purfleet, UK, who will carry out planned and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery and material handling systems. Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on heavy machinery.

  • Support major shutdowns and overhauls.

Skills

Mechanical skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, drive systems)
Ability to read technical drawings
Experience with preventative maintenance and fault finding
Safety procedures knowledge (LOTOTO, confined space entry)
Comfortable working in industrial environments

Education

Recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical or welding/fabrication disciplines

Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Location: Purfleet

Salary: £50, - £55

Mon-Fri 8 hrs per Day

We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to carry out planned and preventative maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and keep our plant operating at peak performance.

What you’ll do
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on heavy machinery and material handling systems
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues quickly to minimize downtime
  • Support major shutdowns and overhauls
  • Ensure safety compliance and accurate maintenance records
What we’re looking for
  • Strong mechanical skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, drive systems)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use diagnostic tools
  • Recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical or welding / fabrication disciplines
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and fault finding
  • Solid knowledge of safety procedures, including LOTOTO, confined space entry, and working at height
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments
