Join Our Team as a Mechanical Fitter! Are you an enthusiastic and skilled Mechanical Fitter looking for your next challenge? Our client, a leading organisation in Barnsley, is seeking a dedicated individual to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis. Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs – Perform hands-on repairs, adjustments, and servicing of mechanical components across a variety of production equipment.
  • Breakdown Response – Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and restoring equipment to working order with minimal disruption.
  • Preventative Maintenance – Carry out planned maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, and part replacements, to prevent future issues.
  • Communication & Coordination – Work closely with machine operators and production supervisors to understand issues, plan maintenance activities, and provide updates on progress.
  • Safety & Compliance – Ensure all work is carried out safely, following company procedures and Health & Safety regulations. Establish safe working environments before commencing repairs.
  • Equipment Setup & Calibration – Set, align, and calibrate mechanical systems to meet production specifications and ensure optimal performance.
  • Record Keeping – Accurately log all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in the relevant systems to support compliance and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For

We are seeking a skilled Fitter that is ideally apprentice trained.

  • Bar Production (e.g., Shear Lines)
  • Power Bending (e.g., manual and automatic Benders)
  • Coil Production (e.g., straightening and decoiling machines)
  • Threading & Coupling (e.g., Lenton and Dextra)

  • Salary: £33,060.76 (Basic £29,874.09 + shift allowance £3,186.67)
  • Working Hours: 39 hours per week in a 3-shift rotation (Mornings, Afternoons, Nights). Mornings: 6am–2pm Mon-Thurs, 6am–1pm Fri; Afternoons: 2pm–10pm Mon-Thurs, 1pm–8pm Fri; Nights: 10pm–6am Mon-Thurs, 8pm–3am Fri
