About the Role
Working within the multi-disciplinary Engineering Team, you will report to the Discipline Lead Engineer to provide general mechanical engineering support to Government Services EMEA projects and bids with a particular focus on water and fuel.
You will provide engineering input and support to current UK MOD, projects such as Joint Operational Fuels System and Combat Water Support System as well as projects and bids for other UK Government Departments. The role may require frequent visits to various operational sites, which could be overseas.
Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, be responsible for the delivery of engineering aspects of projects from inception to completion either by leading or working as part of a team. Perform all conventional aspects of the discipline area subject matter, including, but not limited to, understanding brief definition, design and development, producing and checking design calculations, preparation of technical specifications & enquiries, research investigations, consultation with component manufacturers and constructors, monitoring performance results and the preparation of reports. Work may require investigation of related areas and technologies outside of previous experience.
Performing assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. Use judgment in making selections and adaptation of engineering options. Deliver in accordance with defined performance criteria and stakeholder expectations.
Provide specific support to the development and delivery of packaged equipment mainly for water treatment related work.
Perform inspections on new equipment and conditioning reports on recovered equipment from deployment.
Plan, participate in and report on equipment/system integration trials.
Produce detailed specifications and scopes of work and review/report on supplier’s submissions.
As tasked, devise initial concepts, develop detailed design, design integration and validate/review mechanical systems.
Supervise the interface between different packages of equipment to form a well-integrated complete system.
