Manchester - Hybrid (3 days in a week on-site)

Open for Contract & Perm

Contract - up to £350 per day OUTSIDE IR35

Perm - up to £55K per annum

Mechanical Design Engineer is required for a leading infrastructure design and engineering firm specialising in rail electrification, civil works, and water sector solutions, delivering projects from concept through detailed design. They provide excellence in both design & build, working in operational networks and constrained environments.

Required Skills or Qualification
  • Minimum 5 years' mechanical design experience within the UK water industry.
  • Professional registration (or working towards chartership), with Chartered Engineer status desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge, including hydraulic design, UMON schemes, wastewater and clean water (infrastructure and non-infrastructure).
  • Solid understanding of IT, engineering drawing practices.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, high-quality design solutions, including calculations, drawings, reports.
  • Lead and support design teams by guiding CAD technicians.
  • Reviewing subcontractor outputs, and managing project design changes.
  • Reviewing tenders, and conducting design investigations.
  • Contribute to project planning by estimating design hours, presenting at meetings, and delivering design presentations.
