Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer - outside IR35 - North West

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with HVAC experience, looking to secure a new outside IR35 contract? Are you based in the Manchester/North West area or willing to live/work away? We currently have a requirement for a Mechanical Design engineer with HVAC experience, the position is working on a large project within the nuclear sector.

Responsibilities
  • Provide independent Mechanical Design Services to support ongoing design programmes on defined packages of services to include HVAC systems and chilled water systems and small structural steelwork.
  • Produce and check design deliverables (drawings, models, calculations) for HVAC bracketry, chilled water pipework, small structural steelwork.
  • Independent review and technical feedback and design review support from suppliers.
  • Provide technical advice on constructability, manufacturability and integration.
  • Review design queries, NCRs, technical clarification.
  • Make recommendations on best practice and opportunities to modularise, simplify or standardise.
  • Deliver bracketery designs for HVAC systems, ductwork, chilled water pipework.
  • Advise on design improvements that could reduce programme/overall cost.
Role Experience
  • Mechanical Design Engineering background with proven experience within the HVAC sector (bracketry, supports and small structural steel).
  • A working knowledge of Chilled Water system design and integration of Mechanical Supports.
  • Proficient in relevant design software (AutoCAD, Tekla, PDMS or similar).
  • Knowledge of Structural loading and design standards for bracketry.
  • Experience within the nuclear/defence sector would be desirable although not a prerequisite.
