KLA's Corporate Platform Group (CPG), responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is seeking skilled Mechanical Design Engineers to join us in Newport, UK.

Purpose of the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who is hands-on, highly motivated, and a team player. The candidate will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, from prototype to productization, and will play a key role in the mechanical design and qualification of future KLA products.

The engineer will support the design, assembly, and qualification of a wide range of KLA equipment front end modules (EFEMs) and integrated components. The candidate will provide solutions for tooling, test fixtures, and prototypes to validate concepts and mitigate risks.

Minimum Qualifications

Your responsibilities include:

• Managing the complete mechanical design process, including requirements specification, feasibility studies, cost management, and scheduling.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine design requirements, implement best practices, and develop functional product designs.
• Designing mechanical components using 3D CAD software.
• Conducting or overseeing CFD and FEA analyses to optimize airflow and mechanical design for semiconductor equipment.
• Creating 2D drawings from 3D models and applying mechanical tolerancing/GD&T to ensure proper fit and function.
• Working with suppliers to develop components and assemblies that meet development timelines.
• Ensuring parts and assemblies are manufactured according to design, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Participating in the entire design/build cycle, including modeling, reviews, procurement, integration, and testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with relevant work experience.
• Excellent communication skills in English, organized, analytical, and personable.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and lead mechanical design efforts.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, including design principles, materials, and fabrication methods.
• Experience with 2D drafting and tolerance analysis.
• Desirable experience includes: CREO Parametric 3D MCAD, CFD airflow analysis, FEA, DFM, sheet metal design, measurement instrumentation, and programming in Python, C/C++/C# or MATLAB.
