Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum

We are working with an established engineering company in Hemel Hempstead who are looking to bring on a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in designing for manufacture and small precision industrial components.

Requirements
  • Strong DFM (Design for Manufacture) experience.
  • Background in industrial products, precision mechanical components, or similar engineered assemblies.
  • Proficiency using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Good understanding of materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, fabrication).
  • Ability to produce high-quality 3D models, 2D detail drawings, and BOMs.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Role Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing precision mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Applying strong DFM principles to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and ready for manufacture.
  • Creating 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Working closely with production, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Supporting prototype builds, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
