Overview

Maths and ICT Teacher – Special School – South Birmingham

A well-resourced and welcoming special school in South Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Maths and ICT Teacher to join their team, supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate teacher who is confident planning and delivering engaging lessons across both Maths and ICT.

As a Maths and ICT Teacher, you will teach small classes of up to 10 students, supported by experienced Teaching Assistants. Lessons will be carefully adapted to meet the needs of learners, helping them to build confidence, develop core skills, and achieve their potential. The school benefits from excellent facilities, a supportive leadership team, and a strong focus on ensuring that every child receives high-quality, personalised education. Many of the students are working at a Key Stage 2 or Low Key Stage 3 levels, making this role suitable for a QTS teacher from a primary or secondary background.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering creative, differentiated lessons in Maths and ICT.
  • Using a range of strategies and resources to engage and support students with Autism and MLD.
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants to ensure pupils receive consistent support.
  • Monitoring and assessing progress to ensure students achieve their individual goals.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals.
  • Promoting independence, confidence, and resilience in learning.
The ideal candidate will have
  • QTS and experience teaching Maths and/or ICT (SEND experience desirable but not essential).
  • A flexible and creative approach to teaching.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • The ability to adapt lessons to meet a variety of needs and abilities.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND.
