Are you passionate about delivering high‑quality care and supporting women during pregnancy?

We are seeking a motivated and compassionateHealth Care Assistantto join ourDiabetes in Pregnancy Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support women with diabetes throughout their pregnancy, working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality care. You will work closely with midwives, diabetes specialist midwives and nurses, and obstetricians and diabetologists to provide compassionate, patient‑centred care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare clinical environment and attendees bags ready for the group session for women newly diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes.
  • Connect the Glucometers to the app on the attendees’ mobile phones and give them their diabetes handheld records if not already issued.
  • Conduct a home glucose monitoring education session to either a group or one‑to‑one. These education session teach how to complete a capillary blood sample and how to record the result in the app or in the logbook.
  • Schedule appropriate follow up with the correct clinician.
  • Help with venepuncture for HbA1C tests for newly diagnosed patients.
  • Log into GDM application and clear any flags and schedule call‑back requests for the Midwives, archiving patients who have delivered.
  • Check for new referrals and book them in for home glucose monitoring.
  • Issue Glucometers under instruction by the diabetes specialist midwives or Doctors when required, and ensuring this is documented as issued.
  • Monitor the shared inbox, responding where appropriate to emails addressing any concerns swiftly, escalating where appropriate to the midwifery team.
  • Support with perform Oral Glucose Tolerance Test, including giving women their results.
