Overview

Smithers MSE Ltd provides technical and consulting services to businesses throughout the packaging, paper and print industry supply chain. A new opportunity has arisen within our Primary Packaging and Materials Department for a Materials Technologist who wants to develop their skills within a successful and growing business.

Responsibilities
  • Trained to carry out a range of physical tests relating to materials and packaging performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and provide accurate and timely results to project leaders.
  • Plan, organise and manage your own workload with a methodical approach.
  • Ensure safe working and maintain a high standard of housekeeping, including fulfilment of all HS&E requirements.
Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ideally some laboratory experience in the physical testing of materials and products, but candidates with the aptitude to work in a disciplined scientific/engineering environment are encouraged to apply.
  • Highly numerate; minimum of A Level/BTEC HNC or higher in a scientific/engineering subject.
  • Computer literate, particularly in Excel and Word.
