What are we looking for

We have an opportunity for a Material Controller within our Logistics and Warehousing department. The Material Controller is responsible for the physical handling and system control of materials within the warehouse and production supply environment. The role ensures the accurate receipt, booking‑in, storage, picking and issuing of materials to support manufacturing and business operations.

This is a key role in maintaining stock accuracy, material traceability and operational efficiency through disciplined adherence to processes and safe working practices. The role requires a practical, hands‑on approach and a strong focus on accuracy, organisation and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Receive deliveries, verify goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation
  • Accurately book materials into the ERP/MRP system in a timely manner
  • Clearly label and store materials in designated warehouse locations
  • Ensure correct segregation of stock, including controlled, hazardous or quarantine materials where required
  • Pick and issue materials to production areas in line with production schedules and kit lists
  • Prepare and deliver kits to production in accordance with manufacturing priorities
  • Carry out stock movements and transactions accurately within the system
  • Maintain high standards of stock accuracy through cycle counting and stock checks
  • Report stock discrepancies, damage or shortages to the Warehouse Team Leader
  • Ensure all materials are stored safely and in accordance with handling requirements
  • Support goods dispatch activity as required
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
  • Comply with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures at all times
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the warehouse function
  • Participate in audits and stocktakes when required
About You
Knowledge and Experience
  • Basic education to GCSE level (or equivalent) including Maths and English
  • Forklift Truck licence advantageous (or willingness to obtain)
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or manufacturing environment desirable
  • Experience of goods receipt, stock control and material handling
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP or Warehouse Management Systems desirable
  • Understanding of basic stock control principles
