Avanti Homecare, established in 2018, is a multi-award-winning, family-run domiciliary care company committed to providing exceptional at-home care services in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. With offices in Ilkeston, Ripley, and Long Eaton, we have been supporting our local communities for over six years. Our team is the heart of our success, and we are committed to fostering an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered.
We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, person-centred care, but as the landscape becomes more competitive, we’re focused on strengthening our presence in local communities and growing our private client base in a way that feels genuine and trust-led.
We’re therefore looking for a Marketing & Community Engagement Officer who can help us build meaningful visibility at branch level, using a thoughtful mix of online and offline marketing and real-world community engagement. This role is about understanding what matters to people locally, showing up consistently, and helping Avanti feel like a familiar, trusted presence rather than just another care provider.
You’ll have the space to test ideas, learn what resonates, and shape how our brand shows up in each community. Some work will be planned and strategic, while other activity will be more experimental and unscalable - and that balance is intentional. We’re looking for someone proactive, curious, and comfortable taking initiative, who enjoys being out in the community as much as they enjoy creating content or reflecting on results.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Develop and execute a targeted marketing strategy focused on generating leads for private homecare services in Ilkeston, Ripley, Long Eaton and surrounding areas.
- Set clear KPIs and marketing objectives aligned with business growth targets.
- Create and manage a marketing calendar, ensuring consistent promotional activity.
- Build networks with local and regional online & offline press - cultivate relationships with newspapers, radio stations, community magazines, and hyper‑local news sites; pitch stories, provide press releases, and secure coverage that elevates Avanti Homecare’s brand and services.
Community Engagement
- Build and grow strong, visible branch-area communities around our services, using a mix of in-person activity, local relationships, and online engagement.
- Being visible and present in the community, not just online
- Build connections with local organisations, GPs, retirement communities, churches, community centres, and more to raise awareness of Avanti Homecare’s services.
- Attend and represent Avanti at community events, health fairs, local markets, and networking meetings.
- Trying new, sometimes unconventional ways of reaching families locally
- Organise small-scale local events or talks (e.g. “Caring for Elderly Loved Ones”) to promote services and build trust.
Marketing Material and Brand Management
- Design or oversee the production of marketing materials - leaflets, posters, banners, digital assets, etc.
- Ensure a consistent brand tone, look and feel across all online and offline content.
Digital Marketing
- Update and manage our company website, ensuring relevant and fresh content.
- Run targeted social media campaigns to reach potential clients and their families.
- Explore opportunities in local online advertising, blogs, care-related forums, and regional online directories.
Performance Review and Reporting
- Take an experimental approach to marketing, testing new ideas and channels
- Regularly review and report on campaign effectiveness, lead generation and conversion rates.
- Learn from results and iterate quickly based on insight and data.
- Report monthly to the Chief Operating Officer with insights and recommendations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Skills and Experience
- At least 2 years of proven experience in marketing and community outreach, ideally in a service-focused setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident using social media to build local visibility and engagement, with an understanding of how online content supports real-world community connection.
- A proactive self-starter with the confidence to act on new ideas, follow through independently, and take initiative
- Comfortable attending public events and speaking with members of the community.
- Comfortable adapting to new platforms, tools, and trends - flexible and open to change in a fast-evolving marketing landscape
- Confident in capturing high-quality, on-brand images using a smartphone for use across social media, web, and printed materials.
- Keeps up to date with effective, evidence-led marketing approaches and understands what genuinely resonates with people, rather than chasing short-term trends.
- Driving license and access to your own vehicle (travel across sites and to events required).
Desirable
- Understanding of the homecare or health & social care industry.
- Experience updating and managing content on WordPress websites.
- Design and video editing skills (e.g. Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop) and knowledge of social media marketing tools.
