New Product Introduction Engineer / Project Engineer - 38-42k DoE

Working for an Aerospace First Tier Supplier Fabrication / CNC Machining

Based between Long Eaton & Castle Donington Site Based

5D are working alongside a leading precision engineering first-tier supplier based in the heart of the midlands. They supply to some of the most well-known companies including Rolls Royce and Siemens.

They are experts in sheet metal fabrication machining assembly and special processes including welding non-conventional machining and heat treatments and have developed a consultative relationship with their clients due to their expertise and commitment to delivering a quality product and service.

Supplying into the Aerospace nuclear power generation and precision engineering industry sectors and due to winning significant new projects with new and existing clients we are looking to grow the team.

What the Role will Involve:
  • You will be assigned a new product which needs to be put into production which you will assume responsibility for until in full production.
  • Taking the NPI pack which includes drawings and exploded views of the part you will be responsible for developing the project plan within a fully defined gated process.
  • Identifying the key tasks which could include:
  • Manufacturing routings and writing of SOPs.
  • Inspection activities including building quality into the process. This includes inspection activities for the operators and for the inspection team to certify the product.
  • Processes typically include:
  • Fabrication including laser cutting bending hot and cold forming welding etc.
  • CNC Machining 34 & 5 Axis mainly milling. CNC programming is sub-contracted out. You will be responsible for liaising with the sub‑contractor through to you signed the part off.
  • Assembly processes.
  • Special processes / NADCAP working alongside the Special process engineer.
  • Working with operators and shop floor staff to define the most effective processes for all parts of the manufacturing process. From there you will writing the SOPs and manufacturing processes. There are fully defined templates for all of the key documents.
  • Responsible for quality documentation including the generation of FAIR packs for aerospace products and other customer specific quality and inspection documentation.
Requirements
  • A hands‑on background this could in a fabrication or machining environment.
  • Understanding the NPI process.
  • Well organized proactive and a good communicator as you will own the process from start to finish.
  • Ideally experience in the aerospace sector or in precision manufacturing.
