Job description

Manual Machinist required for my client who works within the electronics engineering industry, based in Littlehampton. This is mainly a hands-on position, but the successful candidate would need to communicate with suppliers about components outside specifications and with companies used for tooling repairs or modifications. Training will be provided where appropriate, but the candidate should ideally have previous experience as a toolmaker or manual machinist.

Manual Machinist Job Overview

• Use trigonometry and other geometric functions for design projects
• Perform milling/cutting operations for low volume stock parts as required
• Repair/adjust production line equipment when necessary
• Support Mould Shop staff with tool changeovers and training
• Liaise with external suppliers of tooling services for press and mould tools

Manual Machinist Job Requirements

• Qualified and experienced with manual toolroom machinery: Mill, lathe, grinder, Britan, power press
• Experienced with small part mould and press tools, able to read technical drawings, identify, design, and assemble relevant special hand/press tools
• Previous experience as a manual machinist or toolmaker
• Within commuting distance of Littlehampton

Manual Machinist Salary & Benefits

• Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
• Death in Service insurance
• Contributory pension with Standard Life: 2.25% employee, 4.25% employer
• Holidays start at 20 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days plus bank holidays after three years
• Holidays partly allocated for summer and winter shutdowns, not exceeding 10 days
• Working hours: Monday - Thursday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm, Friday 8:15 am - 1:00 pm
• 30-minute lunch break
• Additional hours may be necessary to meet deadlines
