Overview

A well-established main contractor / developer is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join their team on high-value, multi-phase projects in Central London.

The portfolio includes commercial developments, hotels, residential schemes, and student accommodation, with project values ranging from £50m-£150m. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional to take ownership of the commercial function and contribute to a variety of high-profile projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing commercial operations across complex, high-value projects and will be confident working on a range of sectors including commercial, residential, hospitality, and student accommodation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full commercial leadership across multiple project phases
  • Preparation of financial reports, forecasts, and cost plans
  • Budget and cost management across work packages
  • Commercial risk identification and mitigation
  • Advising on procurement and commercial strategy
  • Oversight of subcontractor and supplier management
  • Assessment of variations, valuations, and payment applications
  • Leading client interface and stakeholder management
  • Supporting dispute avoidance and resolution
  • Managing, developing, and mentoring the project commercial team
Preferred Experience
  • Experience delivering commercial, residential, hotel, and student accommodation projects
  • Proven track record on projects valued £50m-£150m
  • Strong understanding of pre-construction, procurement, and full project lifecycles
  • Experience with JCT and/or NEC forms of contract
  • Background with a main contractor or developer
  • Ability to lead commercial functions autonomously and implement best practice
