Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager – Purchasing is responsible for managing all activities pertaining to the purchasing of goods and services for all operations of the property.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position.
- Manage the purchasing process including the buying, selling and distributions aspects of the company.
- Review new project proposals for the company.
- Communicate with the marketing team to effect working strategies.
- Analyze existing purchasing processes for performance.
- Implement improvements to existing purchasing processes and delivery systems.
- Handle contract negotiations with vendors and suppliers.
- Identify ideal suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Review department requisitions, bid out requisitions where appropriate, determine types of procurement and vendors to be utilized.
- Communicate organizational policies, procedures, and philosophies to associates to create a strong working relationship.
- Ensure adequate inventory and product is available to meet the company’s needs.
- Prepare instruction/procedure manuals as required to assist the department with all new systems and policies.
- Prepare detailed reports regarding all aspects of the procurement process as required.
- Establish strong professional working relationships with suppliers.
- Develop and manage partnerships with vendors.
- Evaluate and analyze purchasing trends and price trends to identify forecasting demand and minimize purchasing costs.
- Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Adhere to all Virginia Lottery Regulations and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Attend seminars when needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
Minimum four years’ experience in purchasing. Associate degree.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):
- Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Virginia Lottery.
- Must successfully pass background check.
- Must successfully pass drug screening.
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Prior experience in the Gaming industry strongly preferred.
- Prior experience opening new properties/outlets strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Microsoft Office and materials management systems.
- Excellent communication skills to set clear expectations with direct reports.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, excellent work ethic.
- Material management, inventory accounting storage and distribution.
ABILITY TO:
- Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
- Provide training and development to direct reports.
- Have a positive team player attitude, be energetic and driven.
- Interact with team members and vendors in a professional manner.
