Manager – Accounting
Location: Jersey | Department: Private Equity | Equity Apex is seeking a Manager to join a growing team that delivers full suite fund accounting and financial reporting services to private equity clients with complex fund structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client relationships from an accounting perspective, serving as the primary point of contact for all accounting queries.
- Provide day‑to‑day fund accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of private equity clients, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Own bookkeeping processes, ensuring that all day‑to‑day matters are performed timely and satisfactorily, including controlling and monitoring ledgers.
- Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements and NAV calculations in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Review capital call and distribution workings, oversee carried interest and other calculations in accordance with fund documentation.
- Act as first‑line reviewer of routine and non‑routine accounting deliverables (management and statutory accounts, NAV calculations, call/distribution workings, etc.).
- Work closely with the Private Equity Funds administration team and clients to keep accounting records accurate and transactions incorporated appropriately.
- Assist in the preparation and review of periodic direct and indirect tax returns and liaise with tax advisers.
- Attend board meetings to present financial information as necessary.
- Support the audit process to ensure the completion of milestones and deadlines.
- Manage and supervise junior team members, including coaching, mentoring, goal setting and periodic appraisals.
- Perform other duties to support the Senior Manager/Associate Director and team as may be necessary from time‑to‑time.
Skills & Qualifications
- Hold a professional ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA qualification or equivalent (partly qualified candidates with funds experience considered).
- Experienced manager (or assistant manager welcome) with years of relevant experience in private equity fund accounting.
- Proficient in IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Strong project management skills, including people management.
- Basic understanding of Jersey statutory laws and anti‑money laundering regulations.
- Motivated and driven, with a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement.
