Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Management Officer to join the Financial Management function in Specialist Hospitals Clinical Group (SHCG). Based out of Oxford Road Campus, the Financial Management Officer will support our Finance Team and Directorate operational teams. If successful, you will be a key member of our Team with responsibility for the completion of month end tasks and supporting operational managers with day to day budget management. You will also contribute to the development of the Finance Team and lead and support other aspects of the wider finance agenda.

Main duties
  • The post holder will be required to support the FBP and DFBP in maintaining the Trust Directorate budgets.
  • Plan own work to ensure deadlines are met.
  • The post holder will be required to communicate with all staff groups within the finance function. The role will also demand communication/negotiation and effective working relationships with staff from all disciplines, providing and receiving complex and confidential financial information.
  • Lead on ensuring that the reporting of month end information is available with pre-determined deadlines, ensuring high quality information.
  • Responsible for co-ordinating the production of information relating to the Directorate budgets and provide advice to the appropriate budget holders.
  • Work within a customer focused culture with a particular emphasis on providing clear and timely information to non-finance managers.
  • To continually review work procedures and make changes to improve the information provided to budget holders.
  • The post holder must be able to use their own initiative and work with limited supervision.
  • The post holder will need to be competent in the use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing software.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • CCAB professional qualification to certificate level, NVQ Level 5, AAT Member, or equivalent. Alternatively, equivalent job-related knowledge and experience
Experience
  • Management Accounting: Coordinates the monthly production of income and expenditure budget statements.
  • Detailed understanding of software packages used
  • Knowledge of financial management and budgetary management.
  • Experience of working in acute trust
  • Working knowledge of Integra Financial Ledger System.
Skills
  • Strong IT skills and a thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite with excellent skills in Excel.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to interpret, compare and analyse complex financial information and problems.
  • Understanding of current issues in the NHS and the effect these have on the organisation.
