A leading textile manufacturing company in Manchester is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform fault finding and repair on various textile machines. The ideal candidate will be mechanically minded, adept at problem-solving, and able to work efficiently under pressure. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. This role offers a permanent position with flexible shifts and an immediate start.

Established in the late 19th century the family run and owned company has earned itself a reputation of supplying quality fillings to the furniture industry.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Fault finding and repair of textile machines – carding machines, thermal oven, cutting section, blending lines, band knifes, pneumatics and glue fabrication line
  • Machine maintenance & machine cleaning and ordering parts from external suppliers
  • Work to and adhere to daily work schedule.
  • Ability to log work jobs and actions taken.
  • Prioritising production stoppages.
  • Security responsibilities.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Inform department manager or shift supervisor of problems and operational concerns.
  • Routine maintenance schedules, including scheduled PPM (planned preventative maintenance)
  • Undertake weekly audits and stock checklists for priority parts
Skills & Experience
  • Mechanical Minded
  • Experience in textiles machines would be an advantage but not necessary.
  • Previous experience in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Be good at problem-solving
  • Have good communication skills
  • Able to work quickly, under pressure and to deadlines
