Job summary

A leading food manufacturer in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader to oversee and carry out maintenance on high-speed production machinery. You will guide a team of shift engineers and ensure all machinery operates efficiently. The ideal candidate has team leadership experience, NVQ Level 3 engineering qualifications, and a strong background in electrical and mechanical repairs, particularly in the food manufacturing sector. Competitive salary of £56,368 plus perks.

Qualifications

  • Team Leader / Supervisory experience or stepping up from a secondment role.
  • Must have completed a time-served apprenticeship, with at least 5 years experience.
  • Ideally have worked in the food manufacturing industry.

MAINTENANCE TEAM LEADER

STOKE-ON-TRENT

£56,368

12hr Shifts - 2 Days / 2 Nights / 4 Off

Our client is a leading food manufacturer, that values hard work, teamwork and developing people. They are part of a global group with multiple sites in the UK and are looking for a Maintenance Team Leader to join the team

Role & Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance of all high-speed production & packaging machinery
  • Hands‑on (80%) leading a team of X2 shift engineers
  • PPM planning, workload scheduling, input data into CMMS system, contractor management, attending maintenance meetings
  • You will be carrying out toolbox audits, make sure team is working safely, monitoring engineering performance / set KPI's
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs
  • PLC - electrical fault finding
  • Continuous improvement projects
  • Dealing with motors, servo drives, contactors, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, inverters
  • Management of stores, ordering of spares & parts when needed
  • Upkeep and alteration of electrical & mechanical drawings
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Ideally you would have Team Leader / Supervisory experience or stepped up within a secondment role.
  • NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum
  • Must have completed a time‑served‑apprenticeship, with 5+ years experience outside of it
  • Strong electrical & mechanical problem solving skills
  • Ideally have worked in food manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of PLC's, automation & control systems, HMi's beneficial
  • Control panels - electrical fault finding
  • Able to read and follow electrical schematic drawings
  • Knowledge of food safety / hygiene beneficial
  • Continuous improvement mentality
  • Willingness to help in all areas of the team
  • Worked on motors, inverters, VSD's, sensors, switches, pneumatics, gearboxes
