Job summary

What you'll be doing

As a Maintenance Manager, you will:

  • Ensure the smooth and safe operation of all building services within the East Slope and West Slope student accommodation developments.
  • Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
  • Lead on reactive maintenance, ensuring timely response to resident and facility requests.
  • Schedule and manage routine inspections and compliance tasks (EICR, gas safety, fire alarms, lifts, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documentation, and statutory records.
  • Act as the Authorised Person (low voltage, mechanical), Responsible Person (Water), and COSHH coordinator.
  • Manage and mentor a technical team, supporting skill development and ensuring high standards of workmanship.
  • Liaise with external contractors and stakeholders, managing contracts and ensuring quality service delivery.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs, prepare regular reports, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist with building refurbishments, upgrades, and planned expansion projects.
  • Maintain statutory compliance with health, safety, and building regulations, overseeing risk assessments and audits.
Who we're looking for
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH accreditation (desirable).
  • Membership of a chartered body (desirable).
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance management.
  • Proven track record in managing technical teams, PPM systems, and compliance.
  • Experience managing external contractors effectively.
Skills & Competencies
  • Technical competence across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire systems.
  • Strong leadership, people management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and budgeting capabilities.
  • Proficient in building management and FM software systems.
