Maintenance Engineer – Clayton Glass (Blackburn)

Location: Century House, Roman Road, Blackburn, BB1 2LD

Hours: 37.5 hrs/week + 2.5 hrs unpaid break (Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm)

Salary: £47,309–£55,308 (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer who can hit the ground running and take ownership of equipment performance at our Blackburn site. In this senior-level role, you’ll also provide support and guidance to engineers across our other UK locations — whether remotely via Microsoft Teams or through occasional, infrequent site visits (with travel expenses and accommodation covered).

You’ll carry out planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Your expertise will help shape our maintenance standards and contribute to reducing downtime across the business.

Essential Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Electrical maintenance/engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in industrial manufacturing
  • Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Willingness to travel to other sites when required
Desirable Requirements
  • 18th Edition certification
  • IT literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
