Are you a highly skilled, experienced maintenance professional? #TeamUHD are looking for a maintenance craftsman (mechanical) to join the Estates department on the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site.

Estates provides a comprehensive maintenance, repair and installation service of the buildings, grounds, engineering services and associated equipment throughout the Trust.

You’ll have completed a recognised mechanical or building services apprenticeship and gained a wide experience in building engineering services and plant maintenance. This could be BTEC HNC level or City and Guilds plus relevant post apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.

We’re looking for someone with a current UK manual driving licence.

You’ll be working on a shift pattern with participation in an emergency on‑call rota with opportunities for overtime.

Salary: £31,049 - £37,796 per annum (Band 5) plus local RRP (£3,277 pa) and an approximate £1,000 on‑call retainer. As this is a shift‑working position, enhancements are payable in line with Agenda for Change, which is estimated to add around £5,000‑£6,000 per annum to total earnings.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • HNC in Building services plus specialist training and experience to graduate level, or equivalent gained through a relevant apprenticeship plus additional specialist knowledge and experience gained through specialist training, short courses and C.P.D.
  • Authorised/Responsible and/or Competent Person in one or more of the following specialism's: LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Systems, Heating and Ventilation Systems, Decontamination, Safe Water Systems, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS), Confined Spaces
Experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the mechanical and/or plumbing systems in NHS premises.
  • In depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and technical guidance.
  • In depth knowledge of all relevant Health Technical Memorandum's
  • Significant experience working in a complex engineering/building environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems in NHS premises.
  • Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, test & repair work on a very wide range of complex engineering services & equipment, with the ability to work unassisted in varying, often technical environments whilst complying with Health & Safety/ environmental regulations and standards.
Other requirements specific to the role
  • Participate in outside of normal hour's on-call rota.
  • Full U.K driving licence.

  • Able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
