Machinist

Location: Langley, Slough

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (on-site)

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per year (depending on experience)

We’re working with a well‑established precision engineering business in Langley, Slough that’s looking to add an experienced machinist to their busy workshop. This is a hands‑on, permanent role for someone who enjoys practical machining work, takes pride in producing quality parts, and likes being part of a close‑knit engineering team.

If you’re comfortable working with both manual and CNC machines, can read engineering drawings, and enjoy seeing a job done right, this could be a great fit.

What you’ll be doing
  • Machining components accurately and efficiently to drawings and specifications
  • Operating manual lathes, CNC lathes (Fanuc), milling machines and bench drills
  • Setting up machines, choosing tooling and adjusting settings to meet tight tolerances
  • Working with a variety of materials including metals, alloys and stainless steel
  • Using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, callipers and gauges
  • Checking finished parts to make sure quality and accuracy are spot on
  • Spotting and resolving machining issues as they arise
  • Carrying out basic machine maintenance and reporting any faults
  • Managing your workload to meet production deadlines
  • Working closely with the wider engineering and production team
  • Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe at all times
What we’re looking for
  • Previous experience in a machining or engineering manufacturing environment
  • Hands‑on experience with manual lathes and CNC lathes (Fanuc), milling machines and drills
  • Confident reading and working from engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of tolerances, measurements and thread forms
  • A strong eye for detail and pride in producing quality work
  • Reliable, punctual and well organised
  • Comfortable working independently but happy to be part of a team
  • Flexible approach, with some overtime when required
