A leading packaging manufacturer in Slough is seeking a Machine Operator (Slitter) for exciting production responsibilities. The role requires operating machinery, adhering to safety procedures, and slitting materials to exact specifications. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, safety-driven, and comfortable operating heavy equipment. Pay starts at £13.50 per hour with opportunities for overtime. This is a temporary to permanent role.

Qualifications

  • Must have basic numeric and literacy skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and electric pump trucks.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow production plans.

Overview

Job Role: Machine Operator (Slitter)

Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of closure liners and flexible packaging for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, health care, personal care, household and industrial applications.

Position Responsibilities
  • Operating all machinery in an efficient and safe manner
  • Running and maintaining the production of extrusion and coating lamination, including printing, ensuring all safety and quality procedures are followed whilst remaining on track with the production plan
  • Slitting material produced from the laminators and extrusion machines into tapes as per the customer requirement, following strict quality procedures
  • Operate all production lines, after appropriate training
  • Support and help in the cross-training of other team members
  • Covering holiday and sick
  • Process the material through the ERP Styeline system
  • Ensuring that all company driven SOPs and instructions are followed
  • Making sure all codes used in Syteline are accurate and correct
Essential Skills and Characteristics
  • Safety Driven, conscientious, self-motivated and confident
  • Understanding of Quality Systems would be an advantage
  • Must have basic numeric and literacy skills to ensure accurate recording of data using set paperwork
  • Moving and managing material using electric pump trucks, forklifts
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment
  • Be able to read, understand and follow production plans and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Focus driven to hit production targets
  • Keep the area clean and tidy
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team

  • Must be able to work overtime

  • Follow a 3-rotation shift pattern, Early (6am - 2pm) Lates (2pm - 10pm) Nights (10pm - 6am) Mon-Fri
  • Complete company provided safety training
  • Complete company provided quality training
  • 5 slitters to train on. Qualified slitter operator by month 3 on 1 of the 5 slitters
  • Qualified slitter operator on additional slitter by end of month 12
Rates of Pay

£13.50 per hour, Overtime Rate £14.00 per hour. Paid weekly and immediate start. This is a temporary to permanent position for the successful candidate
