About the Role

Jah-Son LTD is a growing road haulage business seeking an experienced and proactive Logistics Manager to take operational control of daily transport planning while actively supporting business growth and client expansion. This is a hands-on management role, combining route planning, driver management, vehicle utilisation, and compliance oversight, with a strong commercial focus on developing new work streams and maximising fleet efficiency. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities
Operational & Planning
  • Plan and optimise daily and weekly vehicle routes to maximise utilisation and efficiency
  • Allocate work to drivers in line with drivers\' hours, Working Time Directive, and tachograph rules
  • Monitor live operations, managing delays, changes, and customer requirements
  • Ensure effective use of vehicles, trailers, and drivers to minimise downtime
Driver & Fleet Management
  • Act as the main point of contact for drivers regarding work allocation and operational issues
  • Support driver performance, compliance, and professionalism
  • Liaise with maintenance providers to ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and available
  • Promote a strong safety and compliance culture
Compliance & Regulations
  • Ensure operations comply with DVSA requirements, O-Licence undertakings, and HGV legislation
  • Support accurate record-keeping for drivers\' hours, infringements, and vehicle usage
  • Work closely with management to maintain high compliance standards
Business Development & Growth
  • Identify and develop new clients and subcontracting opportunities
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers
  • Support pricing, job costing, and route feasibility discussions
  • Contribute ideas to expand the company\'s transport offering and market presence
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in logistics, transport planning, or road haulage operations
  • Strong working knowledge of HGV regulations, drivers\' hours, and WTD
  • Confident communicator able to manage drivers, clients, and suppliers
  • Commercial awareness with a proactive approach to business development
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • IT-literate (transport systems, spreadsheets, email, planning tools)
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience working with compliance audits or DVSA inspections
  • Existing client or industry network within logistics or haulage
