Overview

Nationwide Vehicle Assistance are seeking to employ a dedicated and detail-oriented HGV Logistics Driver to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient movement of vehicles within our operations. This position requires a blend of driving expertise, good geographical knowledge of London and effective communication skills to facilitate smooth logistical processes. The role involves operating a Class 2 of Class 1 vehicle in compliance with all relevant transport legislation and company policies, ensuring excellent customer service and representing the company professionally on the road and at designated delivery points.

This can be for either a Day Shift (6am-16:30pm) or Night Shift 6pm-4am or 8pm-6am) Monday-Friday (No Weekends).

This position will be on a 12 month fixed term contract, with the potential to turn into a permanent position for the right candidate. Nationwide Vehicle Assistance Group covers a wide area of London, however you will be based at our Brentwood Depot.

Due to the high level of security involved in this role, applicants must hold a current, clean DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. The chosen applicant must hold a full, clean UK Category C (Class 2) licence, along with a valid Driver CPC. Employment will be subject to satisfactory completion of these relevant background checks.

Duties
  • Operate various types of vehicles, including flatbed lorries, for the transportation of goods.
  • Manage deliveries and pickups, ensuring timely and accurate execution of logistics tasks.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of vehicles, maintaining safety protocols during the process.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles to ensure optimal performance.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding delivery schedules and logistics updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of the delivery of vehicles vehicle maintenance, and inventory movements.
Skills
  • Proven experience as a Logistics Driver with a strong understanding of logistics operations.
  • Minimum 1 year's experience driving either a Class 1 or Class 2 HGV vehicle.
  • Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent geographical knowledge of London essential.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, maintaining high standards of customer service.
