Overview

As one of the South’s leading aggregate suppliers, our logistics operation is at the heart of keeping materials moving across our network. We are looking for an organised and proactive individual to join our Greenwich team as a Logistics Coordinator, ensuring that customer orders, vehicle scheduling, and day-to-day transport operations run smoothly and efficiently.

As a Logistics Coordinator at Day Group Ltd, you will play a central role in keeping our operations moving efficiently and safely. You’ll be the key link between our customers, drivers, and depot teams, making sure that orders are fulfilled on time, vehicles are scheduled effectively, and safety standards are maintained across the board.

We’re looking for someone with strong organisational skills, great communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment. If you enjoy problem-solving, coordinating people and resources, and ensuring things run smoothly, this could be the role for you.

Package

Annual salary plus the 9% non-contributory pension with Scottish Widows. You may be entitled to the discretionary Annual and Christmas bonuses. Annual leave of 29 days per year, including 8 Bank Holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and coordinate customer orders and enquiries
  • Plan and schedule incoming materials, outgoing orders, and internal transfers
  • Allocate work to vehicles and drivers, ensuring efficient use of our HGV fleet
  • Source and manage contract hauliers where needed
  • Maximise vehicle earnings through effective route planning and scheduling
  • Manage site traffic, visitors, and driver inductions in line with depot procedures
  • Carry out administration for invoicing, vehicle earnings, and drivers’ wages
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and promote a strong safety culture
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the depot and wider logistics operation
Person Specification
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and adapt quickly
  • Good geographical knowledge, particularly of the local area
  • Confident communicator with excellent telephone and written English
  • Numerate and literate, with good attention to detail
  • Proficient in IT systems, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of driver hours and the Working Time Directive is an advantage
  • Experience in aggregates, logistics, or the construction industry is desirable
  • Flexible and willing to travel to other depots for training or support as required
Working hours/times

43.75 hours – 8.75 hours per day Monday – Friday, between the hours of 0600-1800, with 45 minutes for lunch (unpaid). Plus 4.5 hours on 1 in 3 Saturdays, between the hours of 0600-1200.
