Job description
Overview

A vacancy at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. An exciting 12‑month fixed‑term locum consultant radiologist post to join the team at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust. The post covers general radiology and Urology and Gynaecology imaging.

The post holder will be primarily located at Queen’s/King George Hospital, Romford, but may be required to work at Barking CDC (Barking) and St George’s CDC (Hornchurch).

Responsibilities
  • Share an office space, secretarial support with a colleague, and access to a PACS reporting station.
  • Report MRI prostate and MRI pelvis for women’s imaging and perform ultrasound renal and pelvis, including transvaginal approach.
  • Report cross‑sectional imaging for general radiology on the MRI and CT scanners at the CDC centres, King George’s and Queen’s Hospital.
  • Contribute to the general duty roster and hot reporting sessions.
  • Contribute to the specialist MDTs with other colleagues in rotation.
  • Participate regularly in mandatory department meetings.
  • Share the on‑call commitment equally with the general radiology consultants.
  • Have a PC and a reporting workstation for remote access to images for on‑call purposes.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly Urology and Gynaecology MDT meetings (there are weekly MDTs).
Role Requirements / Qualifications
  • Dedicated and skilled radiologist with a subspecialty interest in Urology and Gynaecology.
  • Experience in reporting a range of general cross‑sectional imaging and in reporting MRI prostate scans using the Likert scoring system for standardized assessment in prostate cancer evaluation.
  • Proficiency in MRI gynaecology imaging, including assessment of pelvic malignancies, endometriosis, and fibroids.
  • Desirable: experience performing transvaginal/transanal ultrasound.
  • Experience in urological and gynaecological imaging with strong interpretative and reporting skills; commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Supportive to working within an interventional radiology service for urology and gynaecology interventions.
Additional Information
  • On‑call service for general radiology is consultant led; on‑call reporting duties include urgent AE and inpatient CT scans outside core hours (17:00–20:00 weekdays, 08:00–09:00 weekdays, and 08:00–18:00 weekends).
