A healthcare organization in Chester is seeking a full-time locum for a role in general paediatrics and neonatology. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive care in both outpatient and inpatient settings, offering support in the neonatal unit, and being part of an on-call rota. Candidates will integrate into a team of consultant colleagues and engage in teaching and service development. This is a full‑time appointment but those wishing to work less than full time are welcome to apply. The appointee will be responsible for the care of patients referred from primary care, A&E and other consultant colleagues. The appointee will have shared office facilities with the use of a PC and a personal e‑mail account. There will be secretarial support from a named secretary shared with one other consultant. There is a medical library in the Education and Training building with 24‑hour access and the facility to access online medical resources.

The Trust employs over 5,916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
The successful candidate will be a full‑time locum appointment in general paediatrics and neonatology. The candidate will be expected to integrate into the team of existing consultants to provide a comprehensive general paediatric service, including outpatient and inpatient care for general paediatrics, and the neonatal unit, as well as providing out‑of‑hours cover on a 1 in 10 rota. Two weeks in ten will be as a "hot week" covering acute general paediatrics and another week will be a second "hot week" covering the neonatal unit and providing GP advice. The other eight weeks will be worked as per the job plan outlined below.
