Locum Consultant Gynaecologist & Obstetrician with specialist interest in Gynae-oncology

We are looking to appoint a dynamic Locum Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician with an interest in the gynae-oncology diagnostic pathway to complement our existing team. We have a busy outpatient gynaecology service offering the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient gynaecological services. This is a maternity cover post to support our gynae-oncology team. The gynae-oncology team includes two consultants, two clinical nurse specialists in gynae-oncology, and a dedicated administrative co-ordinator. The successful candidate will be expected to support the local MDT, alongside our gynae-oncologists, gynaecology radiologist, histopathologist and MDT co-ordinator and be involved in the regional MDT.

Main duties of the job

This post includes gynaecology clinic, gynaecology operating, outpatient hysteroscopy, colposcopy if required, and acute gynaecology cover. The post holder will also contribute to the well-established and busy Obstetric service with day-time labour ward cover and caesarean section lists. They will participate in the out of hours on call cover for both obstetrics and gynaecology. We are currently providing 98 hours of onsite delivery suite cover per week.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice (or eligibility to obtain)
  • CCT in O&G and on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration
  • ATSM gynae-oncology or benign gynaecology surgical care or equivalent
  • MRCOG or equivalent.
  • Appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)
  • ATSM Labour Ward Management
  • MOET or equivalent
  • ATSM in therapeutic hysteroscopy or equivalent
  • BSCCP Colposcopy Accreditation ATSM in Colposcopy or equivalent
Clinical experience
  • Clinical training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
  • Strong surgical expertise in both laparoscopic and open management of gynaecological pathology
  • Experience in gynaecology outpatient procedures e.g. gynaecology ultrasound experience, outpatient hysteroscopy
  • Experience of tertiary Gynae-oncology Centre
