A healthcare provider in the region is seeking a Consultant in Dermatology. The role involves leadership in the department, clinical supervision of trainees, and a commitment to governance and audit. The ideal candidate will possess a medical degree, postgraduate qualifications, and expertise in managing skin conditions. Working within a supportive team, the Consultant will contribute to expanding specialist services while ensuring the highest standards of patient care. This position is based in Luton with no on-call duties.
This post is based in the Dermatology department located in Arndale House, The Poynt, Luton (Luton and Dunstable University Hospital).
The post holder will play a full part in the work of the department and will be expected to provide leadership to maintain and develop Dermatology services.
The post holder will share equitable responsibilities with professional colleagues and will contribute to governance arrangements of the service line.
They will be expected to provide Dermatology cover for in‑patient referrals but there is no on‑call out‑of‑hour rota.
The post holder will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence, maintaining responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the department.
They will attend the Local Cancer Multidisciplinary Team meetings as a core member or cover as appropriate.
The post holder will be encouraged to develop a special interest in line with the departmental strategy to expand its range of specialist services, possibly including dermatological surgery, contact dermatitis or phototherapy.
The Locum Consultant will work with local managers, general practitioners and other medical and professional colleagues in the efficient running of the service.
The appointee will take an active part in the clinical supervision of Specialist Registrars and in the supervision of medical students from UCLH who sit in clinics.
