Senior Solicitor/Associate – Litigation

Location: York

A leading law firm is seeking a Senior Solicitor/Associate to join its Litigation team in York. This role offers the chance to manage a diverse and high-value caseload across property disputes, commercial litigation, insolvency, debt recovery, professional negligence and partnership or shareholder disputes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and represent clients in landlord and tenant matters, land disputes, breach of contract, debt recovery, insolvency and professional negligence claims
  • Draft and review pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements and other strategic legal documents
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations and court proceedings; instruct Counsel when required
  • Act as a primary contact for key clients, building long-term relationships and supporting business development initiatives
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues, contributing to training, team development and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, case law and procedural developments while ensuring compliance with SRA and regulatory requirements
Your Profile
  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of 4 years PQE in high-value and complex disputes
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Commercially aware with a proactive approach to client and team management
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience mentoring junior staff
  • Able to manage a demanding caseload while delivering high-quality, client-focused outcomes
