Licensing Team Leader

Hourly Rate: £26.28 – £27.97 PAYE

Hours: 37 hours per week, full time

Location: Welwyn Garden City with hybrid working available

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Licensing Team Leader to join our Regulatory Services team on a temporary basis. This is a senior professional role with responsibility for the effective delivery, regulation and enforcement of a wide range of licensing functions. You will support the Regulatory Services Manager in maintaining high standards of legal compliance, service delivery and performance, while providing leadership and technical expertise to the Licensing team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead officer for all Licensing matters, including day-to-day operational and staffing issues
  • Manage and support a team of up to three professional and technical staff, ensuring service objectives and performance targets are met
  • Deliver and oversee licensing regimes including alcohol, gambling, Animal, taxis, street trading, sexual entertainment, scrap metal, motor salvage and pavement licences
  • Carry out proactive and reactive inspections, investigations and enforcement activities in line with relevant legislation
  • Represent the Council at Committees, management meetings, site meetings and external forums as required

Work closely with partner agencies such as the Police, Trading Standard, and other relevant bodies to ensure effective licensing and regulatory enforcement.
