Job summary

Overview

The Wales Public Library is seeking a detail-oriented, friendly, and creative quick learner to join our team. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including reference, reader’s advisory, circulation, and processing materials.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting patrons in person, by phone, and via email (placing holds, renewing books, reviewing accounts, and responding to research inquiries)
  • Providing information about library services
  • Checking library materials in and out
  • Collecting, sorting, and shelving materials
  • Processing new materials for circulation
  • Helping patrons with computers and other technology
  • Performing other library-related duties as assigned
Position Details
  • Position begins at 4 hours per week
  • Must be available to substitute as needed
Qualifications

High school diploma/equivalency required, Bachelor\u2019s degree preferred. Microsoft Windows and word processing proficiency. Familiarity with Evergreen, Commonwealth Catalog, Inter Library Loan systems helpful. The successful candidate must be organized, have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and work well with a wide variety of people. Must be reliable, have the ability to problem solve, and work independently.
