Throughout your 10‑month apprenticeship you'll work towards becoming a qualified HGV driver combining practical on‑the‑job experience with industry‑recognised study. You'll learn to safely operate heavy goods vehicles, perform trailer moves in Amazon yards and on public roads across multiple site types. Apprentices will operate scheduled shifts and be home at the end of every shift (no long‑haul multi‑day trips).

These combined skills will form the foundation of your transportation career, preparing you for success in this dynamic industry.

Qualifications
  • 18 years or over before the start date (June 2026)
  • Right to live and work in England (for the entire duration of the programme until May 2027)
  • Lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
  • Resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme
  • Not registered to study on a UK government funded course ending May 2026 or later
  • At least 2 GCSEs grades 9-4 / A-C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Active Class B Drivers Licence
  • Ability to obtain a HGV Drivers licence category CE
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive medical check prior to the start date
  • Follow the medical check forms D2 / D4 and send them to DVLA awaiting the decision on provisional CE licence entitlements
  • Provide the new driving licence share code before the apprenticeship start date
  • If qualifications were gained outside of the UK, provide a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC to confirm eligibility
  • Provide proof of all required qualifications (original certificates or certified copies) by the stated deadline; failure to do so will result in withdrawal of any conditional offer
  • Five GCSEs at grades 9-4 / A-C (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and a Science / Technology subject
