We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our pastoral team. In this vital role, you will support children with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
You will be responsible for triaging referrals from class teachers, planning and delivering targeted interventions for individuals and small groups, and providing calm, practical support for pupils who are dysregulated or temporarily unable to access learning. Collaboration is key, and the role involves close partnership with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure each child receives consistent, holistic support.

Encourage and promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students
Assist with the development and implementation of IEPs
Liaise with specialist services on behalf of individual students, e.g., educational psychologists, and speech therapists, by agreement with the Class Teacher
Monitor and evaluate students’ responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against pre-determined learning objectives
Provide detailed and regular feedback to the Teacher on student achievement, progress, and other matters, e.g., IEPs
Good educational background with GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Maths
Understanding of the education system
Understanding of phonics, numeracy, and literacy development
Skilled at developing children’s self-esteem and motivation so that they become resilient, independent learners
Kindness and empathy towards students and colleagues
