Description

Legal Counsel, Rights & Content is a role within the DAZN Rights & Content Legal Team, based out of our Leeds office. This role will be supporting the busy Rights & Content team of this dynamic and exciting global sports media business.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior to mid-level Media Rights lawyer to join DAZN, one of the most exciting and rapidly growing businesses in the sports industry, for perhaps a first move in-house.

This role within the central DAZN Legal Team based in our Leeds office, supporting the busy Rights & Content team.

The Rights & Content business is responsible for a large portfolio of sports rights around the world. As this business division grows in scale and ambition, it offers you a great opportunity to get involved in projects across the globe, be an integral part of the team and develop the role, making it your own!

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide 360° legal support for our Rights & Content team including:
  • Negotiating and drafting a variety of integral contracts (e.g. core sports rights acquisition agreements across a wide range of sports, sublicensing agreements, & key talent and influencer agreements)
  • Assisting with tender reviews and the preparation of bids for media rights of premium sports properties
  • Providing legal support for business stakeholders on a range of matters relating to strategic rights partnerships and the broader global media rights strategy
  • Advising on day to day queries that arise in respect of media rights
  • Work closely with members of the wider legal team across various specialisms to assist in wider DAZN projects as required (e.g corporate, technology, new markets, IP)
  • Work with and manage external legal counsel as required
What You'll Bring:
  • Around 2-4 years of PQE, having trained and worked in a successful and recognised commercial/media/sports team, either in private practice or a strong in-house team (although aptitude, personality and culture-fit will also be given weight in assessment)
  • Previous legal experience in relation to sports rights acquisition and distribution, OTT platforms & players, broadcasting and the TMT sector more generally
  • Excellent technical legal skills, especially first-class drafting and interpretative abilities
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the sports rights industry and the competitive landscape for DAZN
