Overview

LEGAL COUNSEL, COMMERCIAL / EMPLOYMENT – PERMANENT; FULL TIME

LONDON / HYBRID

Taylor Root has been exclusively instructed to find an outstanding Legal Counsel, Commercial/Employment for an incredible and leading not-for-profit organisation focusing on climate change and environmental issues worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including partnership agreements, data licensing, grant agreements, NDAs, MOUs, R&D and other collaborations and vendor contracts to support operations in the UK, US, APAC and LatAm.
  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of other legal issues including commercial law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal standards.
  • Identify and manage legal risks by developing strategies to mitigate potential issues and advising on best practices in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support business development by providing legal input on new initiatives, partnerships, and projects, ensuring compliance and alignment with CDP’s Global goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Finance, HR, Digital and internal stakeholders to provide integrated legal and risk, support across the organisation.
Qualifications

The successful applicant should be legally qualified in England and Wales preferably (but qualification in other jurisdictions will be considered). You will ideally be 1-3 years+ PQE with a good level of commercial contracts and an interest in carrying out employment work (perhaps you completed an employment training seat). You may be currently in private practice or in-house.

Strong experience of building close collaborative working relationships with internal commercial teams is crucial. You will be approachable, a great communicator and demonstrate excellent judgement and pragmatism.

Role details

The role is permanent and full time, but the business offers great flexibility with good hybrid working (2 days in the office) in an adult, self-driven working environment which is judged on your output and delivery. You will be part of a commercial legal team and report to a senior lawyer and reside in an excellent commercial team of 5.
