Job summary

A leading global technology and engineering consultancy is seeking a Legal Counsel to support business growth and manage legal risks. The candidate will provide legal support throughout the contract lifecycle and work closely with stakeholders. This position is located in Lancashire, UK, with a flexible working arrangement, requiring only one day in the office per week.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in commercial contract law, ideally within technology or engineering sectors.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support bid processes from proposal review to contract execution.
  • Draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including NDAs and service agreements.
  • Provide independent legal advice aligned with group strategy.

The Role

The Legal Counselwill provide legal support across the full contract lifecycle, working on both national and international agreements. The role involves advising stakeholders, managing legal risks, and contributing to the development of legal frameworks and training initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support bid processes from proposal review to contract execution
  • Draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, including NDAs and service agreements
  • Provide independent legal advice aligned with group strategy
  • Manage legal matters for designated business units
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments
  • Escalate and report contractual and legal risks
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and legal colleagues
  • Mentor junior legal team members and contribute to legal training

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong experience in commercial contract law, ideally within technology or engineering sectors
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues is a plus

Location

Lancashire, UK – as little as one day per week in the office.
