Job Description

Contract: Fixed-term one year 0.8-1.0 FTE

Salary: £43,482 - £50,253 pro-rata (Band I)

Location: St Mary's University, School of Medicine

Annual leave: 35 days, pro-rata for part-time contract

Join the founding academic team at St Mary's School of Medicine and play a key role in shaping the curriculum and identity of our new MBBS programme. We are recruiting three Lecturers in Medical Education to support teaching across clinical and communication skills, integrated small group learning, and academic tutoring. These posts are ideal for doctors who have completed Foundation training and are seeking to develop their skills in medical education, typically through Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) roles.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Full registration with the GMC and a license to practice in the UK.
  • Current GP trainee in any NHS England Healthcare Education Workforce Region (completing ST2 by the end of July 2026).
  • Demonstrated interest in medical education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Commitment to professional development, including willingness to undertake training in teaching and assessment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and patient safety principles.
