Job description

Role: Lecturer - Business and Accounting

Location: Tresham College - Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Note – Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Business and Accounting to join our Business department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Teaching & Assessment – Prepare, deliver, assess, and verify Business and Accounting programmes across multiple levels, ensuring high‑quality learning experiences.
  • Student Support & Progress – Guide learners to achieve success, monitor performance, and provide reviews and pastoral support.
  • Curriculum Development & Innovation – Develop schemes of work, create engaging materials, and contribute to new course development aligned with industry standards.
  • Quality Assurance & Engagement – Implement quality processes, maintain accurate records, and participate in marketing activities such as open days and careers events.
  • Compliance & College Responsibilities – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards; complete administrative tasks and support College‑wide initiatives.
About you
  • Essential Qualifications – Degree in Business/Accounting or equivalent, GCSE English and Maths, and PGCE/Cert Ed (or willingness to achieve).
  • Teaching & Assessment Experience – Recent experience delivering and assessing Business & Accounting programmes in FE, with knowledge of awarding bodies (T Levels, BTEC, AAT, NCFE, etc.).
  • Curriculum & Quality Expertise – Strong understanding of current developments in the subject area, quality assurance processes, and ability to prepare schemes of work and lesson plans.
  • Core Skills & Professional Attributes – Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage behaviour, track progress, and work to deadlines while promoting equality and diversity.
  • Flexibility & Compliance – Ability to travel between campuses, adapt working hours, uphold safeguarding and health & safety standards, and commit to continuous professional development.
