Overview

Job Title: Learning Support Assistant for Special Needs
Location: Rochdale, Lancashire
Salary: £95 per day (PAYE)
Hours: Full-Time, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide support to young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a large special needs school in Rochdale, Lancashire. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students with diverse learning challenges, particularly those on the autism spectrum, and possess the resilience, patience, and empathy to support them effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Offer tailored learning support to individuals or small groups of students with SEND, with a focus on those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Develop and implement inclusive educational practices to meet the varied needs of the students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to create effective and supportive learning environments.
  • Assist with the development and adaptation of resources and materials to support students' learning experiences.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback and contributing to their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development, employing strategies to promote engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Accompany and supervise students during non-classroom times, including breaks and lunch periods.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
Requirements
  • Experience working with young people with SEND, particularly those with autism.
  • A resilient and patient mindset with a strong commitment to fostering a caring and supportive learning environment.
  • Empathetic nature, with the ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent spoken English with strong communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude and the capability to work well under pressure.
  • Enhanced DBS check on the update service.
  • Right to work in the UK.
